Saint's Row IV: Gat Out of Hell Re-elected Review - STN

STN:
Why arent comedies held in the same regard as deep story-driven titles? Why are tears of sadness worth more than tears of laughter? Thats the question I had at the end of Saints Row IV Re-Elected and Gat Out of Hell. A complex narrative, and a world full of lore, is great when youre in the right mood, but what happens if you just want to kick back and laugh? What happens when you just want to play dress up and shoot things in new and interesting ways? Well, the answer to that is Saints Row IV; a game that puts the fun back in funny.

Saints Row has become known as an over the top series now, a view that has been fully embraced by Volition as the studio continues to expand on the series. So far in the Saints Row canon youve had alien invasions, wrestler crime lords, virtual reality simulations, and of course Mayor Burt Reynolds. Now a new frontier opens itself up for a saintly invasion, one where such a term would be a grave insult; Hell. This new story has Satan kidnap the boss of the Saints, leading Gat Kinzie to head to Hell to bring him back. This expansion is set after the events of Saints Row IV, and so does contain some minor spoilers if you havent finished the main campaign.

Destructoid:
"Theres something about a series that doesnt feel the need to make a ton of social commentary, or really feel grounded in reality. The Saints Row series is like if the worlds of The Naked Gun and Grand Theft Auto merged, and the result is a unique blend of zany comedy, copious cursing, and ultraviolence. Saints Row: The Third is one of my favorite games of all time."
